The Mortuary Temple of Ramases II.

17 February 2006

The Mortuary Temple of Ramases II.

One of the great mortuary complexes of the New Kingdom, the Ramasseum as it is popularly known, the mortuary temple built for Ramases the Great Dynasty XIX. Although smashed and partially torn down in antiquity it still exudes an air of nobility, it has presence that is difficult to explain, an indisputable aura. Many columns displaying 19th century graffiti will testify to an abundance of affection and intrigue associated with the cult of Ramases.
